Connect+ is back from its late-summer hiatus, and it’s returning with four developments worth watching. This edition explores how Disney is using AI to make CTV targeting more contextually relevant, why X’s in-app Lead Gen Ads could create a smoother path to conversion, how household-level addressability is making broadcast TV more personal, and how NFC, augmented reality, video, and AI are turning direct mail into an interactive experience.

Disney’s AI-Powered Contextual CTV Targeting

Disney is making CTV advertising more relevant with Magic Words, a new targeting solution that uses AI to analyze episode content and align ads with themes such as travel, food, automotive, pets, and more. Rather than relying solely on audience targeting, Magic Words allows brands to place ads alongside content moments that naturally align with their messaging, creating a more relevant viewing experience within premium Disney inventory. Through our in-house DSP partner, DCW can access this advanced contextual CTV targeting solution and help brands connect with engaged viewers in the right content environments. As streaming platforms continue to expand targeting capabilities, DCW monitors these opportunities to help clients improve reach, relevance, and campaign impact.

X Brings Lead Generation Back In-App

X is bringing back a familiar performance tool with an updated approach: Lead Gen Ads are returning. The new format allows users to submit information directly within the platform through native forms, eliminating the need for external landing pages and reducing steps between ad engagement and conversion. For advertisers, this creates new opportunities to capture demand directly within the social environment, supporting goals like demo requests, appointment bookings, quote inquiries, and email list growth. By keeping the conversion experience inside the platform, brands can potentially reduce drop-off and create a more seamless path from awareness to action. As social platforms continue prioritizing in-app experiences, DCW monitors these updates closely to identify where new formats can improve lead generation strategies and campaign performance.

Broadcast TV Is Getting Personal

Traditional broadcast TV is moving toward household-level targeting. Hearst Television is bringing addressable advertising to select local broadcast inventory, allowing different households watching the same station to receive different commercials. The technology builds on NEXTGEN TV, which now reaches more than 76% of U.S. households. For advertisers, it brings digital-style targeting to the scale and impact of traditional broadcast TV. DCW is tracking availability as it expands, giving clients another way to reach more precise audiences through traditional television.

Direct Mail You Don’t Just Read — You Tap

Direct mail is getting a technology upgrade. Advertisers can now incorporate NFC, augmented reality, video and AI-powered experiences into physical mail, turning a traditional piece into an immediate digital interaction. USPS is encouraging the shift. Its 2026 Integrated Technology Promotion offers eligible campaigns a 5% postage discount for incorporating qualifying technology. Imagine a prospective student tapping a college mailer to tour a campus or register for an open house. DCW can bring these technologies into targeted direct mail campaigns, combining the staying power of physical mail with the engagement and measurability of digital.
